Battlefield 6's Relaxed Playlist Ignites Intense Discussions Over Bots, XP Rewards, and Queue Times

Recently, Battlefield Studios launched a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this option mirrors the standard Breakthrough setup but features a few key adjustments:

  • Every squad includes only eight real players, with the rest filled by 32 bots.
  • Activities performed by real players grant full XP, while AI activities offer lower rewards.
  • Just a pair of maps can be played: Cairo Siege and Empire State map.
  • Elements like Dogtags, accolades, and stat tracking have been turned off.

So essentially, the playlist delivers on its name: it offers a laid-back version of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume it's a good idea, since it provides more options for players looking for alternative methods to enjoy the game. But, if video games has shown one thing, it is that not everyone will be happy. In other words, a lot of Battlefield 6 players are upset.

Player Responses: From Fury to Support

"Gamers prefer real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your rivals," states a response to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking concept," comments a different user. Meanwhile, in community forums, one user notes, "I have no idea where we are going with this title," while another lists everything they consider to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, fix drone glitch, correct rocket mechanics, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We don't need this bot mode."

However, amid the criticism, some gamers explaining how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, human participants prevent it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads a forum post. "This subreddit fails to see that there are gamers who have lives and can't play this game 24/7. Allow them to find a middle ground," adds a different comment. One reply on Twitter clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is great for me," and another praises the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Valid Concerns and Community Input

Despite the support, there are valid points to criticize the new mode. A few folks have highlighted that it could increase wait times even longer for different playlists due to the large amount of playlists currently available. On a similar note, certain regions often face AI-filled matches in the current modes. It also seems a little backwards that the mode does not begin without a required amount of real players, even though it primarily centers on combat against bots.

Lastly, one of the biggest complaints is that a previous feature was promised to provide complete rewards, even against bots, but that was removed when they tried to eliminate bot farms from the mode. So this new playlist feels like the player base meeting them halfway, according to a Reddit comment. A different user labels this addition as the devs "making a mistake so hard, I had great enjoyment in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Future Prospects: Adjustments Occur?

Should the development team has demonstrated something so far with Battlefield 6, it's that they're listening and responding to feedback. Tasks that were overly hard got fixed very quickly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, should analytics shows this recent mode is underperforming to their standards, they won't be shy to make further modifications.
