Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "one day without laughter".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a embargo on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the tragedy, public personalities shared varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, making divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an aide could have stepped in when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
