Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
