Approximately 55,000 families have reportedly been impacted by the weather, with their items and shelters damaged.

Persistent rains over the recent period have worsened the extremely difficult circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the region, as reported by humanitarian organizations.

"Terrible" Conditions Creates Serious Dangers

A representative detailed the weather overnight as "awful", with precipitation so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"The recent weather was exceptionally horrendous for the families. The storms were so powerful... And the winds were so powerful," said the representative.

There is extreme concern that minors living in temporary structures in wet garments will succumb to hypothermia and various illnesses.

Casualties and Extensive Loss

Medical officials have confirmed that one baby has died from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses caused by the severe weather.

Additional accounts indicate a greater number of casualties. Authorities said that several residential buildings had totally fallen and scores had collapsed partially.

  • Almost 55,000 families affected by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces submerged.
  • Many people required to find new shelter.

Assistance Operations Deemed Inadequate

Organizations have escalated distribution of shelter, bedding and clothes since the halt in hostilities started, but they have said there is still not enough aid getting in.

"Agencies are operating tirelessly to deliver that assistance and to hand it out, but the scale of the needs is so enormous that we still have a great number of people and minors who are truly suffering every night," warned one spokesperson.

Future Concerns and Agreement Terms

The next stage of the agreement includes arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of personnel, and other terms.

Relief organizations have highlighted the imperative for "increased and sustained humanitarian assistance to respond to pressing and long-term needs."

The hostilities was initiated by an assault in October 2023. Later military operations have caused a substantial number of fatalities in the region, based on medical figures.
