Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting this summer

Gunners forward the Swedish attacker has been omitted in Graham Potter's maiden Swedish national team selection, while Liverpool forward Alexander Isak received selection

Gyokeres is scheduled for further assessments this week following worries of a thigh issue in the Gunners's English top flight triumph at Burnley on Saturday

Gyokeres was absent from the Gunners' European victory against the Czech side earlier this week

Isak Back in Action

The Liverpool striker, absent from action since 22 October due to a groin problem, has been chosen for the World Cup matches versus the Swiss team (November 15th) plus the Slovenian side (18 November)

Additional Premier League Call-ups

  • Tottenham playmaker Lucas Bergvall, currently rehabilitating from a head injury
  • Magpies winger Anthony Elanga

Both athletes feature in Potter's England-based players selected by ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham manager Graham Potter

Potter's Role

Potter took over the Swedish federation first on a short-term basis on 20 October, under four weeks after he was dismissed from the Hammers

Former coach Jon Dahl Tomasson was sacked after the national team's setback against Kosovo on 13 October, an outcome which rendered direct progression in qualifying group out of reach

Current Standing

Sweden find themselves last place in their qualifying group having just one point in four matches

Even if they fail to claim the runner-up spot, they could still take part in the secondary qualification due to thanks to their showing in the latest Nations League
