The Red Devils Poised to Sign German Striker Lea Schüller from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are finalising completing the signing for prolific Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Signing for the WSL Side
The forward, with half a year left on her contract, has been a consistent goalscorer for her club and the national team. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for Germany. This signing will be seen as a major coup for the WSL team.
Departure from Bayern was expected after she was seen fighting back tears while thanking the club's fans after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading forwards. According to reports, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Reliable Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Forward Line
The 28-year-old’s signing should represent a major boost to the team's attacking options. She has been highly consistent with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- For seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she achieved at least a double-figures tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.
Building Momentum at Old Trafford
The acquisition of the German international comes at a time when United appear to be gathering positive momentum.
Their recent on-pitch successes include securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

- The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s extension, a club official stated: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from the middle of the park.”
Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
