Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans offered sympathy for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
